Barclays Singapore Open 2008 |

India's Jeev Milkha Singh edged Padraig Harrington and Ernie Els by a stroke to triumph in the US$5million Barclays Singapore Open in Nov.
"It is great to be here and I would like to thank everybody for coming out and the sponsors Barclays for putting on a great event," said Singh.
The final day attendance brought the spectator figure to more than 20,000 as golfing fans came out in droves to watch the world's top best players battle it out for the top prize.

Sentosa-MOE Beach Volleyball Challenge 2008 |

After a month long of intense competition,the Sentosa-MOE Beach Volleyball Challenge 2008 has finally come to an end.
The event kicked off with the National Inter-Schools Championships on the 7th November 2008 and saw the huge response from 40 over school teams. Eventually, only the Top 4 teams from both categories will be invited to play in the International Invitational matches.
The International Invitational Challenge started on the 21st November with teams from Malaysia and Thailand who gave our home teams a good challenge.

A Musical Celebration – Singapore International Band Festival |

Sentosa had the privilege of hosting the closing of Singapore International Band Festival. Guests witnessed performances by homegrown bands from Chua Chu Kang Secondary School Band, St. Anthony's Canossian Secondary School Concert Band, Ngee Ann Polytechnic Concert Band, Manjusri Secondary School Concert Band, Republic Polytechnic Wind Symphony and Assumption College Lampang Symphonic Band.
We thank the schools for their participation and wonderful performances! And hope that everyone had a great time!

In conjunction with Singapore 43rd birthday, Sentosa celebrated with 10 days of fun and memories for everyone! Feast on yummy treats in olden Singapore with street-style local dishes, tried your hands on all-time favourite kampong games, relaxed with entertaining musical performances and visited attractions free for those born in the month of August.

As Singapore Food Festival came to an end after a month-long celebration, Club Islander hosted more than 200 guests who turned up for The Sentosa BBQ. Guests enjoyed a ‘multi-racial’ smorgasbord of cuisines barbecued by our own chefs and watched on as our cooks whipped up stingrays, mud crabs and prawns from the gigantic pit! We hope all diners at The Sentosa BBQ had a 'belly-good' time and a truly memorable experience. Thank you for your continuous support and we will be back better and more tastier next year! |

Fun with Photography – Sentosa Cove

The photographers from SAFRA Photography Club and members of the public enjoyed a pleasant morning of snapping pictures and exchanging the latest photography techniques. With the model being such a sport, posing for the cameras was second nature to this beauty whom can often be seen modelling for Car Shows and Product Launches.

We saw primary school, secondary school students together with volleyball enthusiasts came to battle it out at Siloso Beach every weekend from 31 May onwards. Break a Record with CLEO! |

A national record for The Largest Ever Swimsuit Shoot was set on June 21st 2008 at Siloso Beach as 420 girls in swimwear turned up for The Great CLEO Swimsuit Shoot. The aerial shot of the human formation was endorsed by a representative from The Singapore Book of Records. All participants enjoyed free mini-massages, spray-on body art, music and a bag full of summer goodies. |

14 June was a sizzling hot afternoon as our hottest Mr & Miss Siloso Hotbods 2008 were crowned! More than 400 people turned up at Café del Mar to witness the final showdown. The event kicked off with a dynamic dance performance followed by funky fashion showcase in causal and beachwear. The Hotbods were also tested on their wits in the Q&A session. Supporters had a chance to vote for their favourite hotbods and to participate in exciting stage games. And some lucky participants walked home with fantastic prizes! |

Sentosa National Optimist & Byte Championships |

An impressive number of 434 sailors, 143 in the Byte class and 291 in the Optimist class, participated in this year’s Sentosa National Byte & Optimist Championships at the National Sailing Centre held from 11 to 15 June.
The number of entries this year is by far, the largest in the history of the event, with participation from 10 countries - Australia, Belgium, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Singapore.
In the Byte class, 2007 World Byte Champion Keerati BUALONG from Thailand tops 143 boats in winning the championship. In the Optimist class, 2007 SEA Games Gold Medalist Rachel LEE grabbed the lead by claiming the first position, winning the regatta ahead of 290 other boats.
Besides racing in the challenging conditions off East Coast Park, overseas participants were treated to an evening out on Sentosa island, enjoying the attractions of Sky Tower and Songs of the Sea. |

Sunday the 8th June saw a gathering of shutterbugs, young and old. Armed with their cameras and tripods, a 2-hour photography frenzy begun as they tried to get the best shots of our Birds in Flight, here, only at Sentosa. |

Sentosa Family Jamboree |

Families had a fun-filled day on Sentosa at Singapore's first ever Family Day Out! They were treated to free balloons, popcorn, candy floss, henna-painting, and exciting rides on the Thomas & Friends Train. There were many photo opportunities around the island too, for our happy families. Kids made friends with Captain Palawan and visited some of the attractions for FREE. The family that plays together stays together! |

World Gourmet Summit 2008 came to a scrumptious finale at Sentosa with – Gourmet Barbecue with Paulaner Beer at Sapphire Pavilion. This finale ended with a bang as 13 partner restaurants put their best forward and prepare their best creations. |

Songs of the Sea 1st Anniversary |

Birthday greetings rang out loud at Siloso Beach on 26 March 2008, as Songs of the Sea celebrated its first anniversary. We marked the day with a special behind-the-scene tour of the kelong, for an up-close and personal look at how the special effects are lined up for the nightly performances. |

On 4 March 2008, winners in 22 award categories were honored for their contributions to the tourism industry at The Esplanade - Theatres On The Bay.
Sentosa would like to salute our dazzling STAR ambassadors, Stephen Mark Williams, Jasmine Teo, Muhammed Faizal Bin Amron and Helen Lee for their achievements and for being among the top 22 outstanding individual finalists for this year's awards. Singapore's only annual Lunar New Year floral extravaganza ushered in the
Year of the Rat with a magical spring amidst a spray of colours, fragrances and rare species of flowers from America, Africa, Asia, Middle East &
Europe.
An award winning festival into its 4th year, this breathtaking tropical
paradise was held over the first eleven days of the Lunar New Year, from 7 -
17 Feb 2008.
For the first time ever, the floral spectacle extended into the night to
10pm daily where guests were delighted with floral floats displays, along
with competitions, festive markets and the Wise Old Rat to share his lovely Book of Spring. |
